The present work was likely a preparatory study for Umberto di Lazzaro's larger oil on canvas work, Crociera atlantica, which was exhibited at the 2000 exhibition Ali d'Italia, manifesti e dipinti sul volo in Italia, 1908-1948 at the Aeroporto di Bologna. Both works depict a 27 aeroplane flyover over Manhattan.
